I am not a frequent shopper. It has been months since my last shopping spree, if I can call it that

For me to enjoy the whole experience I found these common factors

• Never eat before shopping. If you have to, eat a light meal or drink coffee. You have to be in the best shape and fit

• Wear something comfortable and easy to take off. It comes in handy when you are trying clothes. Try not to put makeup so it doesn’t come off while changing clothes. And most importantly, have on some nice comfy shoes. I don’t get how girls walk hours in high heels, I salute you.

• Have a partner in crime. They have to possess at least the same fashion taste as you, not the total opposite or the shopping journey will turn into a battle field. My partner is my baby sis, we have a blast shopping together, right fa6foo6

• Never take old people or men. Old people get tired easily and men, well let’s say as long as the shopping is not about them then it is boring.

• Have a budget. I know it is a dream to be able to take all that you want but let’s face it most of us can’t do that. So “علشان ما تتوهقون لاخر الشهر حطوا ميزانية”. College days, my sister and I used to go to “سوق السالمية القديم” and go crazy if they have stuff for 5 KD. Every time we pass there, we are reminded of our past experiences. Now we are more financially comfortable

• Choose the right time, I mean nobody goes shopping at 12 noon in Kuwait’s summer, even if it is in a ‘mojama3′. Kefaya el-7ar bil-sayara. After 5 pm is fine in the summer at least you avoid having heat meltdown. That is why I love winter, you can park anywhere and go walking from mojama3 to another. Also, it is best to shop weekdays, we all know how it is in weekends bil-mojama3at, ra7 tolo3 chabdkom.

• Also choose your shops. For me Mango is a challenge nothing fits. I wear medium size 12. In Mango size 14 doesn’t fit!!! So I try to avoid it as much as I can

• A bit of luck. There is no use “اذا السوق كله يلوع الجبد”.

• After you finish you can always enjoy a meal and “تحصون الغنائم”.Happy Shopping
