Movies
Posted by Bloggylife in entertainment on November 2, 2007
During my week vacation I have been watching movies non-stop ;D Most of which I enjoyed.
Stranger than Fiction
I love Will Ferrell, I have watched most of his movies. In this movie, he plays an IRS auditor in which his life is being narrated by a prominent novel writer. This is one of the GREAT movies I have watched.
Blades of Glory
FUNNNYYYYY. Another Will Ferrel movie. He teams up with actor Will Speck. Two rival ice skaters that pair up for competition.
Transformers
Couldn’t ask for more. I was amazed by the graphics in this movie. They are state of the art. The way robots transform into cars. Slow motion is needed to appreciate what I am talking about. As soon as I finished I started wondering about the next one when will it be out. Memories of the animations that we watched as kids came rushing back. I searched the episodes and started reminiscing while watching them
Thank GOD for today’s technology that could allow us to create such fantastic amazing graphics movies.
License to Wed
It’s a pretty nice movie, I was surprised but I liked it. I think Robin Williams can take most of the credit for the success of the movie.
Blade II
I saw this on TV. I have watched this movie maybe 3 times. I said I will only watch it for a while but couldn’t ;P I had to finish it. I just LOVE the blade movies. Wesley Snipes is awesome except for the brown contact lenses he puts on in the movie other than that the movie is a must see, even if it’s old.
Pirate of the Caribbean (At world’s end)
Wouldn’t say that I liked how it turned out. But the movie was worth watching because of Captain Jack Sparrow, he’s hilarious. I would very much like to see another one of Captain Jack’s adventures.
Die Hard. Live Free or Die hard.
I don’t understand why most people don’t like Die Hard series. Honestly they are fun to watch. Filled with action. If I knew for certain that I will survive after all that he goes through I would have gone with him. Come on who would want to miss sliding down a spiralling plane and then jump off to a wrecked bridge and escape the explosion and survive to tell about it, huh. I loved the fight scene with Mai, that was awesome. The movie was a great come back yippee-ka-yay ….
Knocked Up
I have been wanting to watch this movie for a while and finally I did. Worth the wait, it is funny.
Little Miss Sunshine
That I watched a while back. I did not expect to like the movie, not only did I like it but I loved it. It is about a family each member has their own story all come together to take their daughter across the country to a beauty pageant. I like a movie when things you don’t expect happens.
Hair Spray
I went to see this movie in the cinema here in Kuwait. Big screen, lots of music and dancing it is awesome. The songs are great. I really had fun watching this movie. Though it was chopped. But part of the charm was the huge cinema screen. I was tapping my foot and shaking all the way through the movie.
My English
Posted by Bloggylife in personal on November 2, 2007
My English is pretty good. I like English. I like to speak the language, write and listen. It is a matter of personal preference. It is not my first language thus it is influenced by all that is around me. Movies, music, books, people, etc.
The weird thing that I noticed and ignored before is that the way I talk depends on the person I am talking to most of the time.
I wanted to ask the Indian security officer if I could come over in the weekend to pick up some stuff.
I come tomorrow or after tomorrow … maybe … It’s OK … no problem …or not …
Mouthing each word, not to forget the weird accent that comes along. All the while thinking to myself, what the hell are you doing woman, you can articulate a better English sentence than that!
He shakes his head and says: No problem ma’am.
I don’t stop at there I continue …
I don’t take long time … just take things … quickly … OK … you remember … not forget …
If I talk to an English accent person, mine gets thicker as we go along … my sister pointed that out as I spoke to the English lady dying my hair … really I didn’t notice that I replied.
Even in Arabic, if an Egyptian person starts talking, I automatically switch to (aywa, ma3lesh). Jordan, Lebanon, etc. You name it. I can’t help it.
I have to learn to isolate myself completely and just speak my normal English that I do disregarding the way in which the person infront of me speaks English. I’ll try.
