Documentation is one task that I love to delete from mankind’s history. Ok not to that extreme but at least from my job requirements.

Since I have a hard time documenting stuff and I spend a lot of time, energy, self constraint and sanity I tend to be a hard critic of documentations.

I’ve done the job so if you want proof ask me. It’s not easy documenting in IT.

One of my beliefs, if you went to engineering school then at least you should come out with two things, better English language and documentation skills, unless you went to some GOD forsaken under the education radar kinda school.

I was looking through some documents at work and if it were me back in college and I submitted such a document to the Dr. he would literally ripped that thing apart but not before smacking me in the head with it, no matter how great the project I implemented or the subject I searched!!!

They would deduct marks for margins, font size, layout, single&double space, bold font, structure, index, appendix, cover page and the list goes on.

I picked a few things through my documentation journey most of which don’t make sense and aren’t related to the standards of documentation and report writing, like the font I prefer and the bulletin points, I hate I repeat hate the round circle ones, I always use the square ones, I don’t know the reason.

If it were up to me, I would hire someone to follow me with a camera to document whatever is supposed to be documented. That would make my life so much easier. “Where’s the document?”, hand over the video and let them pick out whatever they want.

I would make a tough document supervisor if I can be that, I would rip off everything or perhaps burn them that would send a clearer message, professional documentation, hehehehe. Maybe I should write a book for the naive documenters “The Idiots Guide in Documentation” and “How HELL your life can be when documenting wrong“
