The Irony ;)

The irony of the situation, I am smiling while writing this post. One of the most complaints I received back in my old job was MSN messenger is not working. HELL will come down descending upon us if the messenger stopped working for 5 minutes!! I became an MSN messenger expert troubleshooter, min kither el-mashakel. Most common causes for MSN messenger not to work starting with the least common:

  • Misconfiguration of the PC clock, time mismatch creates a problem with authenticating with the MSN servers
  • Blocking the application through a personal firewall, whether it be Microsoft’s firewall or some other installed firewall application
  • Not having the Internet connection at ALL. I mean you don’t have a cable for GOD’s sake!!
  • Users forgetting their username and password. wAllah they actually required me to get it for them, wait let me contact my psychic password guy, hmmmmmmm, let me get that password for you along with a mocha-latte

So today I tried at my new job to login to my MSN messenger account and it didn’t work and being new, couldn’t really troubleshoot the problem. wAllah I started laughing, min khither ma at7al6am 3ala el-maw’6o3, MSN messenger not working happened to me. I’ll figure out the solution later. Is it IRONY or KARMA :P

I didn’t know about the clock thingy!

I am using Trillian at work since the real messenger is blocked and we can’t even install it unless we have adminstrative access! But thank God for the proxy! :D

I put a content management hardware in our system and I blocked MSN and all other communication! It annoys me and I don’t care how people feel, they can live without it! Let them be professionals about it, if you need any recommendations I can help you with some!

LOL I guess you are the boss. whenever we block, management calls!!! Stating we stopped their business calls, yeah right. What do you use? I tried ‘Websense’ it is great and easy to use. It blocks based on application signatures, port services and all is predefined. It was a great application.
