Alphabets
Posted by Bloggylife in funny, work on December 31, 2007
Two technicians installing the hardware and one had to read out the license number to the other, so this is how they talked out their alphabets:
Alpha-3-8-Charlie-Alpha-Bravo-5-9-Delta-9 …
I felt like I was in the military or some police force. The only thing left was to say ‘over’ at the end of each exchange ;P
“we’re going down damn it, save yourselves” hehehe, couldn’t help it!!!!
I remember how day to day users pass information, like their email account, password or MAC addess, instead of letters they’d use:
Apple-Boy-Cake-Doctor …
I liked how the first one goes, adds a bit of spice to it
Keep it coming

All my defences are down. It is not that I crave it, well sometimes I do, but it is the easiest fastest thing to have. Whether making it on the spot instantly .. takes minutes .. or start from scratch, hungry or just about full, in a hurry or you don’t mind waiting, fancy or plain, wherever, whenever, however …
Coffee in all its forms …
Instead of your daily meals, what keeps me going through the working hours because I don’t have time to grab a bite or just don’t feel like eating but have to put something in my stomach to keep me going … so coffee it is …
The weather doesn’t help at all, you’re freezing and all you need is a warm cup in your ice cold hands to breathe some warmth in it, so you get a hot cup of coffee not hot chocolate because surprisingly little do people know how to perfect a hot coco.
Keep it coming my way … cups and cups of coffee … until the time I figure out a delicious non-caffeine healthy hot drink
IT Chats

I love chit chatting with fellow colleagues. Especially if it is a girl and working in the same area as I am, less lonely ;P
It is not so much about talking as it is about exchanging information and learning from one another.
It is amazing if two companies have the same product but deploy it different and then you begin to exchange ideas and debates.
I love it when a guru comes along, a challenging conversation. That makes you watch every single IT sentence coming out of your mouth. Just shut up and learn, that’s what I like to do. And then BAM questions come streaming out, I can’t stop. I argue this and that and I cherish the arguing back.
Today I called my colleagues just to say HI. We ended up talking for half hour. After the initial hellos … you know this went down, this got hacked, we installed this, remember the solution, did you see this, have you ever come across this problem, what do you think about this.
Everyone needs a partner in crime, to laugh later at your screw-ups. Now most of the times, whatever needs to be done is done after employees are gone because just in case I mess up and need to get back.
Earlier Days ….
Why
I just need to go there to check something out, ahhhh, won’t take long
Wait … come on, what did you do …
I accidently shut down a whole department … accidently … hehehe
Those were the days … perhaps they’ll be back soon …

I came across this guide through one of the forums. It is one of the best and simplest explanation I have ever encountered.
Whether you are an expert or a newbie, it is useful. I have refreshed many info and gained new.
It is also nice to use as a guide when explaining to others. Check it out.
Email Troubleshooting
Posted by Bloggylife in troubleshooting on December 24, 2007
It is very interesting handling the email server. Depending on your organizations setup of the email system as a whole, servers for sending emails, servers from storing, servers for filtering, etc. You’ll have many failure point scenarios when troubleshooting a problem. The more complicated the setup, the more intriguing the troubleshooting process.
One of the things that email systems do upon failure to perform their tasks is to send the end user a Non-Delivery Report (NDR), that pretty much helps you pinpoint the problem.
If a user calls in a problem whether from your organization or another attempting to send to your organization, ask them to send the NDR received.
Lately a user attempting to send to a group in our company received the below:
(554 5.5.2 Invalid data in message)
- Made sure that they and we can send and receive between each other with relatively small sized attachments, in other words we didn’t blacklist each other and we have no attachment size problem.
- Asked to be provided the details of the email, attachment size and name. The attachment’s name was over 150 characters long! The email filter/firewall can be configured to enlarge the message size.
- Asked the user to resend the email after renaming the attachment with fewer characters
- Received email
Email servers have many features and configurations. Problems help you understand them more. Still I’m in the beginning of the road

To have to deal with:
2 GHz Pentium 4 processor, 256MB of RAM, 60GB hard drive, 802.11b wireless networking, USB 1.1 ports and a battery that last for about 45 minutes!
Do I need to elaborate more. I hate Toshiba laptops.

Home Cooking
Posted by Bloggylife in personal on December 21, 2007

Cooking is a fun experience to me because I don’t do it often. لازم مزاج
When I cook I like to be alone in the kitchen or with someone I am comfortable with and doesn’t stress me out and that person is my sister. We do enjoy cooking together, messing and inventing recipes as we go along not to forget the music that plays in the background so we can shake it now and then between stirring this and cutting that. One more thing, a huge must, the kitchen has to be a place that you can actually cook in not one of those heated up shabby excuse of a kitchen.
Luck plays a great role in perfecting what you are attempting to cook. You can do the same recipe over and over again and sometimes you get it right and sometimes you don’t. Just follow the recipe if it’s your first time and then experiment as you go along. Do not experiment when baking, that’s an area I don’t like to play around with. No questions asked, just follow. I might get crazy and add nuts or whisk some heavy cream ;P
I love cooking when I am with my sister or when cooking to friends. They always compliment if they like what they are eating. Unlike men aka my brothers. Like my sister and I spent this weekend cooking everything, she made this great delicious chilli fries and we made this salad and all they did was complain and complain and comment on the garnish and the sourness of the orange juice. Why did you put onions, what’s in this and what’s that … never ending. Everytime is the same thing, you just want to smack two slices of bread with cheese, give them a glass of water and slap them and that will be your lunch. WAllah they’ll find something to complain about. They just kill your cooking spirit with all their nagging.
Well today I entered the door of the kitchen and did some cooking with fa6fooo6, but I don’t think this will be happening again anytime soon. For my brothers, I cooked an extra brownie that I know will finish within two days maximum, the good thing is that I already had my slice
All Aboard

You think people by now are more comfortable with technology. I myself sometimes get sick with all the technology. I just got my head around one thing and then another dozen new things come popping out. Nevertheless, you can’t deny how thing progress and evolve.
For example, some people have GPS in the cars or mobiles and don’t use it, it’s just a front for others to see. Using BlackBerry for calls only. Refusing to use emails, shop online, swiping their credit cards or worse owning a computer! Not installing a DSL line or banning the Internet from the household because it is the devil. For GOD’s sake they are pulling fiber to all areas right now. Digital signatures are out of the question. Training or conducting meetings via video is not necessary. And so much more.
Here people misunderstand technology. Internet is for chatting and porn. Mobile cameras for illicit behaviours. Bluetooth for taking and sharing pictures of girls, not knowing it was originally invented to connect various nearby electronic devices together at a low cost for communication and sharing.
Technology can be fun if you allow yourself to explore it in all its different forms and shapes. I think the fear factor is what holds most. Not understanding what they are about to deal with. The thing is a first step needs to be taken to break down that barrier that still holds people back from experimenting. Just let go and hop on the technology wagon
Each Year
Posted by Bloggylife in thoughts on December 19, 2007
Months seem like days and days seem like hours. I can’t believe how time flies by. We just started 2007 and now it’s coming to an end. Is it really that days are going by faster or did we just got older and caught up in our lives that there is no distinction what so ever between yesterday, today and tomorrow. Did we simply forget how to enjoy the moments that make everything worthwhile?
At the end of each year we always hope that this year will be better than its predecessors. But if we think about it really hard, last year didn’t differ much than this year so why will next year be any different!!! Most importantly how different do we want it to be?
I don’t know why I wait till December of each year to evaluate what I have done. All over the year I always say I have time to do what I planned. All the sudden next year is around the corner and I have nothing to show for myself.
Nevertheless, I hope that next year will be better than this year. Not only to me but to all those around me.
