Point of View

With the Internet problem happening and cables being cut by “ships”, several issues were brought to light regarding redundancy, disaster recovery, total impact, etc.

Most ISPs managed to overcome partially with a little over one day. Most weren’t affected locally that is within Kuwait.

As my old colleague told me that they had no problem connecting to local sites, I am like what is the difference? Most business transactions are done with the outside world. If you calculate the percentage of local network transactions it maybe around 15% and that is an optimistic estimate. Even from a regular user point of view, using free email services, online gaming, shopping, etc. Users living here host their websites outside. You get the point, nothing local.

I think if a country was cut from the world and won’t be affected that much is USA, most of what is accessed resides there.

As I read different articles commenting on this problem, I laughed at the one saying that if the USA faced the same problem, probably the only affect will be not being able to access BBC.
