My Week

I left work around 7 pm today and as always to keep my sanity I needed to go somewhere first before heading home. I needed something to eat. I went to Bredz and as they were preparing my order I took a look at their desert collection, YUMMY, all looked wonderful, I was so low on sugar that all I kept imagining digging my bare hands into their deliciously looking cakes and eat a bit here and there… But sweets was not what I needed, nevertheless, to curb my yearning I went to Sultan Center and got me a few chocolate bars.
On my way home, I was thinking about work and me. Asking myself, am I a workaholic or is it that my work never seems to end.
I think workaholics are those who sit and work even though they finished everything, they can’t seem to leave work. I on the other hand want to leave but can’t because I still have work to do, or that some tasks need to be done when the employees aren’t there.
Begining of this week, I was on fire, I was processing everything so fast that I needed to stop so other parties can catch up with what needed to be done. I think it is because I am a woman and we have the ability to multi-task so I can do several things at a time, except when it comes to documenting, I fight the urge to shoot myself, so this has nothing to do with being addicted to work, if I can do several things together then be it
The other day, I needed to take a break to go eat something around 5 pm, I was waiting for our ISP to come fix one of our links, which they have ignored until it completely burned out, so I had sometime before going back to work and I decided to go see about a Tone Generator we needed at Fitco instead of heading to Marina to pick up a few things. I knew if I went to Marina it would’ve taken me more time and I wasn’t sure about the traffic, whereas Fitco is in a place where traffic is less that time of the day, btw it is a nice place for networking equipments. So that was a reasonable decision.
What I can’t imagine is doing this for the next 50 something years till I’m 70, LOOOL imagining myself in networking in my 70′s, I think I should be a manager by then or some kind of networking fossil … come to think about it, WTH am I working in my 70s for 
I should be in an island somewhere doing only GOD knows what 
I haven’t yet concluded the question?
But I am looking forward for tomorrow to end and for me to sleeeeeeep, because I haven’t had much of it lately.
Firefox Experience

I have switched to firefox for sometime now, especially that I have been facing problems with IE7 and gmail
What I like about firefox as a user’s point of view:
Until now no unexplainable problems, like my web cache is full and it needs to be cleared
I like the dictionary feature, IE should adopt this
I had several login sessions opened when my PC suddenly powered off. When I started again, firefox gave me the choice to restore my sessions, when you think about it, it is a two way approach both security vs convenience
I can select something of a website and only view that part’s source code, this is a huge time saver. I used it, to find a java script that displays time
It would be nice if they add a small tab next to already opened tabs in case you want to open a new tab and don’t want to go through the menu, just like it’s done in IE7
As performance, I haven’t noticed a huge difference and perhaps I can say I cannot seem to notice the difference between firefox and IE. When opening multiple tabs of youtube, firefox consumes the CPU rather generously, but then again maybe this is related to the fact it is running on Vista.
For Microsoft web based, not all the features are supported if you are not running on their platform “IE” yes Microsoft knows how to keep their products running. So when checking my email exchange account for example, I do it over IE.

I think my sister heard enough of this, I can’t stop complaining and I know as an IT I shouldn’t, but who the fuck approved the release of VISTA … boy does it drive me crazy …
Before bitching more, I just want to say the only good thing about the new operating system is the graphic interface and all the 3-D, transparent bullshit … offff yes I had quite enough of it …
Last year, I installed vista on my home PC, but removed it in a week because every application was incompatible with it especially my bro’s games so it had to go
I got a new laptop and instantly requested to be downgraded to XP and they said I have to take it to the workshop and I wanted a legitimate XP copy because as I told them I already paid for vista and I don’t want it, give me XP instead but that created another issue so I decided to take it home and try it out …
Arrrrgggghhhhhhhhh
Let me say my machine has a dedicated 2GB RAM and apparently around 1GB is always being consumed by processes to keep that magnificent interface and I just have the standard home edition!!!
When you have a product line going for the new release do you decided to totally change the way the OS is managed. I feel for the regular user, wAllah, me I find a hard time just to get exactly what I want to do!!!
And the stupid affirmative box I get, every time I need to run a task … and when the OS tries to solve the problem by itself, I wonder if this is related to the home edition …
I am even having problems connecting to my home wireless network, everytime I need to repair it. Upgrade the driver, un-install the upgrade!!!
Then yesterday before I went to bed I needed to do some testing on our email server so I tried to telnet and couldn’t find it in the ‘usual’ system32 folder!!! A bit of searching resulted in that the telnet client isn’t installed by default. Ya3nee shino, security issue or what???
1. Click Start then select Control Panel.
2. Select Programs and Features.
3. Select Turn Windows features on or off.
4. Select the Telnet Client option and click OK.
I have a lot of complains. The constant updates, everyday, how many glitches are in there?? OK you may ask am I not enjoying anything, other than it is the OS from HELL and slow, well I enjoy the games … well this is only about a week’s experience, we’ll see what happens in the future .. that is if I still keep it and don’t go back to XP …

How to best describe the situation
Imagine you are outside, close your eyes if necessary ;P, in your car waiting, and suddenly you need to go to the bathroom, you tell yourself: you can hold it … in less than an hour you’ll be home and you’ll do your business then … time passes so slowly and you get more desperate …
Finally you are heading home, you are so ready to go so desperate you can’t even hear soft music because it is calling you to let go … you hold it … think home home … open your jeans buttons … relax breathe … faster faster … damn those car bumps … eeeeee …. Parked got out of the car … stand still … breathe in … concentrate … and ran up to the bathroom ….
Ahhhhhh … after holding it in for over an hour …. the tingly feeling the runs up and down your spine as you let yourself go … at last … the shivers … the smile … the world becomes colourful again and you can see clearly …. You sit a while longer … think of the future ;P …. The most pleasant feeling … RELAXATION …
All combined … the emotions .. this is the closest thing I can imagine feeling right now .. I finally submitted my network documentation 
hehehehe, I love to bring misery to myself, why did I start documenting the damn thing, because each company needs to have one!!! Kidding myself. Qedee3a, I never wish that stupid hectic headache for anyone, NO, I think I can
Weather Thoughts

It happens every year. Each year I seem to forget how hot the weather can get here!! Each year I am reminded. I say ‘لا مو معقولة احر من جذي‘ and each time I am proven wrong … yes it can and it will get more and more hotter!!!
I’m the type of person who is always feeling hot when everybody else seems to be fine and when everybody else seems to be freezing NO I am the one who is feeling rather fine and actually comfortable with the cool weather. and I am not kidding, I sweat, huff and puff, water … cold water …
Taking showers isn’t enough, as soon as you hit the road, you need another one. The simple act of opening a window or not pulling down the curtains, immediately hits me, ‘it is so hot in here, is the AC working’
I hope the ministry doesn’t pull any stunts this years, by turning off the electricity or cutting the water -I noticed the pressure isn’t as strong as it used to be-
I guess that brings the attention to Global Warming issues especially with all the crazy weather that has been going on. I do know because of it, earth is heating up, everything is melting -me too-, sea levels are raising up, pollution, ozone layer, etc. But as an average citizen what can I do? I may need more enlightenment regarding this issue…
I just want June, July, August and September to be over quickly. The cool weather is late November. Let the heat be over and cool weather come back. I always suggest to have a huge dome built all over the country, I think we have enough money to pull such stunt. If not the whole country, OK the popular places, the cities, parks -does anybody go there anymore-, sea side. We can have shaded areas, or some plastic heat reduction protection form, I think it is feasible. I have been saying this for years but nobody is listening to me.
Yallah, heat, dust, wind, humidity are far much better than other nature disasters.

Why your family shouldn’t know what you do for a living?
I have two laptops of the most two hated brands to me, DELL & ACER, that need formatting
Formatting to me is the most boring thing to do after you’ve done a couple. OK the first one was pretty exciting, how many years ago was that!!!
They drop them off and need it fixed ASAP … some of ‘em won’t even boot ;P last good known configuration, safe mode, etc.
Formatting is no problem, what comes after it, finding the missing drivers, installing the applications, updates, etc. That what takes time. If you request the CDs that came with the laptop when they bought it, they can’t find them, but you’ll find CDs of games and those hardess give aways
Currently I have three laptops, my bro’s, which got fixed, I won’t detail the problem that electronic stubborn piece of … angel gave me, this one has all the Internet access for all the needed downloads and searches, the other two are the patients in my workshop
I should charge …
Moment of Thoughts

Did you ever have one of those perfect moments, that even if you went back in time, you will do exactly the same thing to the frame to the second …
When I have one of those, I want to freeze time and just jump screaming, did you see that!!! Everybody just dance –music going in my head- well I’ll be the only one moving expressing myself crazy since everybody else is time-frozen ;D
I didn’t have one lately but I always say to my friend, take the time, stop, think, look at what you did and congratulate yourself, because you did a pretty DAMN great job
Taking my own advice … I would like to take the time to look at myself, give myself a pat on the shoulders, maybe squeeze my own cheeks, a hug, a toss in the air –dunno how I’ll be able to do that- and say thank you and job well done from me to me ;D

For not taking up the typical local ways
For not giving up and running the other way like crazy when every cell in my body screamed to do just that
For sticking to every damn thing and seeing it to the end, even if I knew I wouldn’t get that much out of it, but because I believed a little might teach me something

For all of you hard working women out there, sometimes you just need to take a moment look at your achievements and failures in this life, on all levels, personally and professionally, and appreciate yourself with a huge smile … cheers cheers …
