Brainstorming Tracking
Posted by Bloggylife in technology, thoughts on June 30, 2008
Just brain storming here, but I’ve always wondered how they would trace users via cell phones to the exact location! This question resurfaced upon seeing “The Hulk”
I am talking about mobiles with no built-in GPS modems/receivers
For any telecommunication company they build these mobile station that transmit signals that make up their mobile network to cover areas across the country, so I think the maximum they can do is determine to which mobile station you are connected to and not your exact location but that pretty much pin points you within a certain area. Because this station has a certain radius coverage and you are within it
If you have any device with GPS capability then you know that there are satellites orbiting the earth and I believe you need to contact at least three satellites to get your exact location, three dimensional axis x,y,z -which subject was that-
I need to search this subject more. That’s the problem with IT … malqoofeeen !!!
The Incredible Hulk
Posted by Bloggylife in entertainment on June 30, 2008

OMG, Amazing, just amazing. This movie is awesome! I didn’t expect it to be like that, the story line, the action, the graphics, the whole package is simply wonderful
This time, ‘لعبتها صح’ and booked I think since Friday for today for the whole family. If anyone didn’t go and see the movie, it is worthwhile and a must see and especially the end a promising new releases, TEAM AMERICA. Have you noticed the security guard, the old HULK character, and then Iron Man appears, but as I was discussing with my brother, I think this is going to be too BIG of a movie, how are they going to cramp all these amazing characters in a maximum 2 hour movie, though I don’t mind if they decide to stretch it, if it is as any good as Iron Man and The Hulk.
They did a great job giving it to Edward Norton, but Liv Tyler is OK, it’s just the way she talks, I feel she’s always breathe talking kinda like “I see dead people” speech, don’t you feel that? I haven’t seen the first one, because it wasn’t luring as this one … as the title sez “incredible”
Allah al-7een erta7t, I’ve seen the movie … but still have alot to go ;D
I couldn’t help but imagine if I had the ability to turn into one, ‘The Hulk-eeya’ or ‘HulkIT’, hmmmm, though truth to be told I don’t like to get angry because if I do, well I just hate it. So I would need baggy clothes, ’3an el-fathaye7′, stretchy 3abaya would do it, my huge sheela ;p -la mane3 min al el-tezam- and when I say “Please, don’t piss me off!” it’ll have a 3 dimension green meaning ;p I would ‘أضرب بالخمس’ while saying some lame vocabulary ‘قطيعة تقطعك يا معفن … مالت عليك … اقلب و يهك’ I think I would dedicate sometime to clean the streets of crazy drivers since well they can crash into me, not to forget make the world a better place
, but perhaps I need to attend anger management courses because if I didn’t they would be NO people left to work with in the company ;D

“The secret of getting ahead is getting started. The secret of getting started is breaking your complex overwhelming tasks into small manageable tasks, and then starting on the first one“
I am going to draft something based on this advice, because things have piled up lately as a result of energy being sucked outta me
The problem isn’t with the existing tasks is with the new ones that come along while you’re compiling & processing your old ones!
Yallah yeseer ’7air, now I’ll go & grab a ridiculously priced coffee and see where we go from there

Roaming Profile
Posted by Bloggylife in technology, windows on June 27, 2008
Roaming profiles, one maybe acquainted with this back from university days, it’s when you can log into your computer account and find all your files and settings regardless of the PC you are using. Of course, some rules apply, like the PC your are using is allowed to go and fetch your profile.
There is a whole Microsoft solution for this, which consists of Domain Controllers (DC), Active Directory (AD), Domain Name Servers (DNS), workstations, etc.
You have dedicated servers that store all your users and workstation information, settings, scripts, etc.
When you choose a PC and login in with your credentials, first the PC has to be part of the domain, in other words, identified and then the credentials are verified and if they pass, some scripts are run for example mappings in computer window or whatever is configured there
So what happens if, for example, DC goes down and no secondary is there to take its place, well it depends, if you logged into your profile using the same PC, then it is imported to that PC already and will allow you to login but anything that needs verification or executing by accessing DC won’t be applicable, like mapping network drives or any updates won’t be reflected so you won’t see the updates through another PC
When taking a laptop that is part of a domain home and then you either lock it, standby or hibernate and the next day when you plug it into your network you won’t actually import your profile “freshly” and you won’t see all the settings you normally do when you log on when your laptop is hooked on the network, because you are using your profile which is already stored locally from your laptop and if you log off without connecting to the network and log in using another PC, you won’t see the changes.
Just remember just because the screen goes black after sometime whether you lock your laptop, standby or hibernate, doesn’t mean they are all the same. For some settings to be implemented you need to log off and log back on while connecting your laptop to the domain network.
Hard vs Smart
Posted by Bloggylife in thoughts on June 27, 2008
You know the saying:
“التكرار يعلم الحمار الشطار “
whom ever said that obviously never met me!!
I said that to my sister and interestingly today my friend was discussing with me a conversation she had with someone at work
There are two types of work, there’s hard work and there’s smart work
The one that’ll get you places is the latter.
Seems all simple and dandy, but how is that?? Basically when you work, do it in a smart way, it’s not about how well you are doing, or how hard you are working, it’s about who knows what you are doing and forget about your superior, just get as many people in high places to know you!
See the work you do may not be grand but because someone somewhere that matters remembers you, you’ll get what you want … if you work hard and OK people around you know how hard you work … so what?? Who has the decision!
I listened and deep down I know I’m screwed … cause one thing I know is I ain’t smart in that way. The job gets done, who knows about it … well me and … not sure about that!
Same job, but how you present it, the outcome differs. I think there should be a course out there teaching this skill …
“What do you mean I should’ve not said that? All I told him was to follow procedures”
“But he’s the manager!”
“So … you mean we should treat people differently!!”
I dunno what I’m trying to prove here, WTH am I doing ??
I believe I learned something here, now I understand how people change … slowly they do, even themselves they don’t notice it, then all the sudden they look back and see how they began and how they ended. We will see if I learn a thing or two and if I don’t, then definitely I’ll be seeking people like me and file a petition to revoke the earlier statement because I can swear that in my case repetition ain’t teaching me one damn thing.

Nothing beats … fa6ooma’s ‘هب السعد’
I absolutely love this song, though I don’t know all its lyrics, it is just so soothing and amazing
A perfect song for a perfect occasion

Note to self, why didn’t they call me when they threw in the bride’s flower bouquet!! It’s the first time I attend a wedding to do this, but what I know is they call all the bachelorettes … hmmmmmm I wonder why .. am I that scary …
Emotional Thoughts

“You always keep things bottled up inside” that’s what my sister tells me always
But today I think ‘بطيت الجربه’ and still we have hours before the day ends
How can I describe my day so far, crappy crappy crappy …
In the morning my sister calls and I pour my heart out, that’s #1 mild weeping over the phone
Next Maha sends an email as usual we exchange now and then, email conversations, and if there is ‘te7eldom’ over the email I did that too and finally poor Rania
That woman either loves me so much or someone ‘da3ee 3aleeha’ today, I literary was screaming over the phone and of course crying at the same time!! If she was in front of me, she would’ve caught some on my spit over her face -poor roro-
I have a problem with crying, not the lack of it but of it, if I could take it out I would and stop me crying all together!
So I did my boo-hoo-ing three times, over to the best three people in my life
My cousin’s ‘miljah’ is today and in the saloon as I was doing my hair, few tears escaped as I was looking into the mirror, I was horrified that the lady will see me and think why am I crying as if she was doing something wrong or the simple fact I am crazy!
I am torn between leaving this all behind e and having a good time, I always wear my emotions can’t hide them, but as it is said by all three “f*ck them, don’t let them get to you”, isn’t weird how you all said the same thing one way or the other
LOVE YA ALL

Don’t you feel sometimes … for the possibility of turning into a tornado just to materialize your frustration!
Whatever message GOD is trying to send me, I am not getting it!! Maybe because I’m a thick headed person?? Dunno …
Anyway, I guess I’ll understand it eventually … I am trying to swallow it … with my life ain’t worth it theory …
Love ya fa6fooo6, I was thinking of you and you called … I think I blabbered senselessly over the phone with many f*!k this and that … hehehehe, but then after that I get my HAAA off my chest moment ;D
OK, back to work … I got a lot lined up since I’ve been working like a snail these past couple of days
Error message: Cannot delete file or folder
Posted by Bloggylife in troubleshooting, windows on June 24, 2008
In a win2003 file server when trying to delete a folder it gives the following error:
Cannot delete file because it’s being used by another person or program
Going to Computer Management (right click My Computer -> Manage), you can verify the status under open files and close opened sessions if necessary. But in our case nothing was there, the file wasn’t opened
That leaves it being accessed by a program, so it being a file server shared by many users, not much programs are running, so checking the anti-virus application, nothing, backup software, not running, I was looking for iexplorer.exe processes, none of that, so either I start killing windows processes randomly and hoping to find the correct one or just wait for whatever supposedly process to complete!
Through my Google-ing I found these nice free softwares which are compatible with xp, vista & 2003, unlocker and PurgeIE, they simply identify the process causing the problem and help you do the necessary action you want
When doing that using these two programs, I am still facing a problem deleting the file and both programs allow you to schedule to delete file/folder on the next reboot
After working hours, I reboot the file server and went and deleted the file … GOOD OLD MICROSOFT WAY
But it was nice coming across these two softwares, unlocker is much user friendly
Cordless & Wireless
Posted by Bloggylife in technology, thoughts on June 24, 2008
I need to include this because if I don’t my sister will be skipping this one as with all the posts marked technology ;p
You can skip this post, I just want to say that this is not geeky, wAllah, I think one who is familiar with both terms and used them will be saying the same thing
Our secretary was asking about the phones and said cordless, where in reality they aren’t cordless they are more than that they are wireless, do not emphasis much on the naming
The way the signal travels is through air, wireless, radio waves, how the device utilizes this and the naming, well one only needs to be informed
Cordless phones, instead of transmitting voice signals from the handset to the base station through wire it transmits wireless signal and for a limited range and it can only connect to that base station which connects to your home phone lines
Where as wireless, uses the known wireless technologies 802.11/mobile networks and as long as there is coverage, you are connected. So imagine if you have a wireless 802.11b/g phone and the whole building is covered you can walk around and shift from wireless range to another and still be connected to your network regardless of the base station because it only charges the battery or think of it as mobiles wherever there’s coverage of your mobile carrier you are connected. Also, more features that these types offer from transferring voice, data, sms, etc.
See the difference … does that make sense … offfff … I got that off my chest … that is to my best knowledge …am I on the right path or did I get something wrong ???
To be said frankly, the difference is becoming blurred each day as with all concepts that start quite different and slowly merge into each other …
I couldn’t keep my mouth shut, but the look I received! AHA OK … LOOOL … seriously … again this is NOT being a geek … mala sho’3ol … both of you Fatma&Rania I need to introduce you to real geeks so you know I am NORMAL …
