Ski Dubai
Posted by Bloggylife in entertainment, family on June 14, 2008
Both of us stood at the front of the ski booth
What do you think we should go for?
How about the ski board, it looks more fun
You got that right let’s go for it!!
My bro and I signed up for the discovery ski lesson, I was so looking forward to it. In fact we were looking for sky diving as well but they said it was all the way in Jabal Ali and we only had this day off and it was rather expensive. The bright side, We’ll have something to look for next time ;D
We got the gears and clothes and waited for the instructor
I looked ridiculous in the outfit ;p
So which way will you be going, I think I’ll be more comfortable going left
hmmmm, really, I think I’ll be going the other way, it seems easier
Then the instructor comes and we were three, my big bro, an Englishman and myself. The instructor began explaining about the board and then about how to ski
Most people go left, this is called the regular way and few people go right and this is called the “goofy” way !!!!
Out of the corner of my eyes, even without looking at him, I knew he was enjoying this, my big brother is thriving
I fidgeted and asked: Excuse me, but why do they call it the goofy way, I’m not sure which way I’ll go but I think I’ll be more comfortable going right. I’ll try both ways before deciding …
The instructor says, No you see it’s just a name, ahhhh many people go right, I can do both ways …
and then what happens … my big bro …
No you see, goofy as in the cartoon, she is goofy!!! As in mickey mouse …
and starts laughing away and mocking me!!! Big brothers!!!
Maskeen the Instructor was trying to explain and my brother was laughing at me going the goofy way
Anyway I elbowed him and called him crazy
And the lessons begin, it is much harder than it seems and through it my bro turns to me and says good thing we didn’t go directly to the slope and I agreed telling him that two human snowballs would have been coming down the huge slope made of him and I ;P -we thought we can skip the lesson and teach ourselves-
In one we had to slide down and touch the snow with our hands and get up
The other guy went first and fell after touching the snow
My big bro did it of course
I went down, touched the snow and got up
… my bro didn’t see it, so he was screaming touch then snow touch the snow .. I yelled back .. I DID KHALAS and banged to the spongy wall … the other guy was laughing
The last lesson was to come down the slope and learn how to stop yourself by lifting you toes, first time at the end I fell and couldn’t get up, I had to roll over
Second time, the instructor let go and I went swishing down the slope and this guy is in front of me and I was trying to say MOVE but all that came out was eeeeeeeeeeeeeee and crazy hand gestures ;P thankfully I didn’t bump into him but into the spongy wall
It was crazy, I fell so many times and got up and did it again, I LOVED IT
They have this small escalating belt you go up with and then you’re up the tiny slope. If I wanted to sit down on the snow I just throw myself
You never actually feel the cold because it is an extensive sport, I was sweating and wiping off my runny nose all the time ;P
The instructor liked us all saying we were pretty good for first timers. He especially praised my bro and that made his day, he is so competitive
We finished and changed. The boots are so heavy and the clothes as well. When I got out of the dressing room, I had to look at myself several times to make sure I had put on my clothes, because I felt so light ;P
We got our snowboarding achievement passport for discovery lessons, I can’t wait for the next time I’ll be doing the next level. It is such a life reviving sport
