IT Announcement

We, the IT department, would like to thank you, our end users, for being such an exceptional bunch by introducing a fun contest. Yes, as you may have suspected long time ago, we IT, have nothing better to do ;)

  • MRR: The Most Ridiculous Request! AHA, initially we thought of having it on monthly basis but since you, our beloved users, are providing us with so many, we have enough for a weekly draw! Isn’t that exciting. Pick up the phone, send us an email or drop by, increase your chances.
  • NER: Never Ending Request, how many ways can your problem be solved till you are satisfied! And at peace with the solution, keep them IT going round and round and wooohoooo win a fabulous prize.
  • FA: Frequently Asked, it is your right as a user to ask the same question over and over again and to receive the same answer over and over again. So what, your IT provided you with guides and FAQ page on your personal webpage. Each time you ask the same question, you’ll go up a notch, what’s waiting up there … well loop away with the same question and find out.
  • MOR: Most Outrageous Request, log in the date and time you call your IT personnel. It’s their duty to pick up the phone, this is why IT people are hired. Facing problems with your DSL link at home, can’t connect from a coffeeshop on the weekend, your messenger stopped working on your personal laptop, call any of the listed IT people and don’t forget to tell the IT person to submit your form for this thrilling category.
  • Double I’s: Ohhhh, that’s a tough one, The Impossible Idea, whatever you have in mind, do not hesitate, nothing it too hard, too far, or impossible to conquer!

Guidelines:

  • Think of any IT person as a machine, they look like humans but don’t be fooled, these people, stand in the freezing cold functioning on coffee only for several days and btw only take bathroom breaks!
  • IT people gave up having a personal life upon accepting their positions.

We have created an application form to submit to all of the above, but why waste your time, you have to click the link and fill out the empty box and then click submit .. oh yes we do know you have better things to do, so again drop us a call, email and we’ll fill it out for you, or as one of the brilliant Double I’s that qualified, we are working on reading your minds and predicting what it is you want before you say it ;D

Send To Mail Recipient Error

I get this error when trying to Send To Mail from within any application or using right click -> Send To -> Mail Recipient option for a file on the desktop for example.

mapi32.dll is an invalid Extended MAPI Library

To solve this problem. Since I still have my old machine running – it’s still doing me good – with the same office version 2007. I copies the dll file, mapi32.dll from (C:\WINDOWS\system32) and placed it the exact location of the new machine, closed outlook and opened it again and problem solved.
