My Pass Card

Signs of ta5reef is beginning to show!

I’ve so many incidents with my gate magnetic card. I usually have it in my wallet and wave the whole wallet in front of the reader to open the gates. I came in the morning, and passed my wallet in front of the reader panel, the gate didn’t open, so I inch the wallet a little closer and wave a little harder as if this is going to make a difference. Taking a bit longer to conclude the logical explanation, that the card isn’t in the wallet!! I use the same card to open the door to the server room and there I stood in front of the elevator and instead of pushing the arrow button, I start waving the card in front of the elevator, OMG, that was embarrassing :P Instead of taking my mobile, I took the card and didn’t realize that in my hand was a card and not a mobile until the moment I attempted to call, there were no buttons to press ;P

I do these things by default without thinking :P

TCPView for Windows

In any client server scenario, it’s hard to connect the process running on the server to the client on basic windows commands. Usually all processes will run under system account. This is an awesome tool that makes the task much easier.

TCPView is a Windows program that will show you detailed listings of all TCP and UDP endpoints on your system, including the local and remote addresses and state of TCP connections. On Windows Server 2008, Vista, NT, 2000 and XP TCPView also reports the name of the process that owns the endpoint. TCPView provides a more informative and conveniently presented subset of the Netstat program that ships with Windows. The TCPView download includes Tcpvcon, a command-line version with the same functionality.

Pulp Fiction

pulp fiction

The lives of two mob hit men, a boxer, a gangster’s wife, and a pair of diner bandits intertwine in four tales of violence and redemption

I downloaded the movie without reading its plot, so at times I was confused what the film is about. It was a good movie, though boring in some parts but it kept me guessing what is going to happen next. The movie is not about one person and it’s not your typical storyline, so my predictions where proven false. At the end, it all comes together nicely.

Unprofessional Confessions

I confess I was unprofessional and I apologized over and over again! At that moment, it didn’t seem like a big deal but when I had to deal with it, I was embarrassed. The 5 minutes it usually takes me to befriend my neighbours took 45 minutes! I can hear my mobile ringing from a distance but I was too caught up to go get it.

The guy I was supposed to meet left and I can’t blame him one bit! I received an email stating that their representative was on time, but I wasn’t available. I apologized for wasting his time and efforts and rescheduled to Sunday!

I hate it when people are not professional, wasting my time, so I am so annoyed that I did that to someone else. I hate it when I spend time in useless meeting discussing useless stuff, when all questions can be answered by simply reading the damn document submitted! And yet here I am doing the same exact thing that I loathe to another.

We had a failed hard disk that needed to be replaced in one of our servers, the technician needed to install a software, first thing I asked do you need to restart the server after installation. “No”, came his sure answer.

See when installing a software, sometimes you need to restart the server or the newly installed application won’t start or won’t run properly, some software installations will disconnect all active share session, so you need to be aware of those incidents.

What do you know, we had to restart the server. I inhaled and exhaled before saying, my first question was, do we need to restart the server because this is a file server that we cannot simply restart!!!

I receive calls from people in which my answer should be read the manual we prepared with the screen shots I spent hours preparing, but NO they need to hear your voice reading out the steps and they follow! I don’t understand this. Am I asking for too much here?

But I thought of it as punishment for my un-professionalism today. I beat up myself a lot, I know it’s just work, but I think I do this in my life too, when I am the one who did others wrong. I need to loosen up, it’s easier said than done.

Just Thoughts

Decisions, it’s easier not to make them because they withhold some responsibility that no one likes to be linked to. Since everything here runs the opposite direction, the higher position the individual holds, the lesser decisions they are likely to make. they’ll just delegate this task to people underneath them with one thing in mind, the blaming culture that we seem to adopt and passionately live by.

I don’t understand who came up with this idea that we as human beings, don’t make mistakes, we do but as intelligent species we learn from our mistakes and don’t repeat them again. It’s weird how we thrive more on mistakes and errors rather than accomplishments.

We feel at ease when others come crumbling down but when we witness the raising of a hard working individual we immediately begin questioning the legality and validity of the act!

decision making

On an individual level, it’s more comforting to not change things, even if we don’t like them, we are taught to live it out, because everyone else is doing the same or simply you can’t change your surroundings. The hardest thing, is to make a decision on your own, under unsure circumstances, you are not sure if it’s absolutely the right one, but you are damn sure whatever you are in is not working, you sum up the gut to leap and the worst thing, is that you fail and you look around and all you see is people pointing and saying “told you so”, it doesn’t end here, you don’t give up, you take another jump and see where it takes you.

Making a decision is hard, recovering from a wrong decision is harder, not giving up even if you fail over and over again is much harder, doing it all on your own adds another notch to it being hard, having those around you discouraging you is the hardest of them all.

Life is short, it’s quite a waste to leave earth not living it up and taking chances. Some of us will succeed others will fail. Those who reach their goals often are recognized, others are the unnoticed heroes who didn’t give up and kept on trying though at the very end might not have reached their destinations, but have worked hard on achieving their dreams.

We have somehow deleted the journey from our satisfaction, recognition and don’t thrive on it anymore, our focus is on the end line, no matter the mean.

Everyone needs to look within and just please their inner self in hopes that all falls in place peacefully.

My iPod Cover

My friend Oryx got me an iPod a while back and ever since I’d sync my music according to my mood and listen away. I looked in vain for a cover for it, then my sister ordered me the cutest one from Etsy, it’s a cyper market place where individuals get to sell their handmade products. Check it out, isn’t it lovely :D

For the Money!

What would you do for money? How far will you go?

I think it’s more relevant to those who lack the availability of it or more importantly need it.

This question swirled my mind after watching “Indecent Proposal“, made me question my own hypothetical actions.

What would I’ve done, if I were put in such situation?

In relevant to my own life, what I do for a living. On days when I really hate my job and all I can think about it not coming back … good money … pops in my head!

The weird thing is when I got my first job, I was being paid less than my peers but I wanted this job and not any other job. When I started my second job, there wasn’t any increase what so ever!

I can not claim that I was brought up without any money, but as I make my own now and see what I can afford now compared to let’s say college days to first jobs and going on till today, it’s so tempting to keep hanging on just a little while longer. I know deep in my heart, I can adjust to whatever I make, but I still have some tolerance in me, so it keeps me going!

But this is shallow compared to a situation where one is in deep need and there is no way out or let’s say no clear way out yet, unless accepting something that you could not have imagined you would’ve ever do.

Some people may know the answer, others won’t. Some already been in that situation. I for one, can’t claim what I will or won’t do unless I am put in that situation and hopefully I don’t get there.

If money is enough to give financial stability, then it should be enough. But as you have more of it and see what you can do, especially if you didn’t have much to start with, you start to appreciate it more and put value to the abundance of it. It’s not only for getting the essentials, what you need it’s now about getting what you want! You can now loosen up the tight belt wrapped around your budget and breathe in.

Not having to worry about money sure makes life easy. Should you save for a rainy day but what if this day never comes and it would have been better served as a nice getaway to relax and enjoy.

The more responsibility you have, the more you need to think about it.

How far will you go for the money? What are your limits if any?

No matter what you think you’ll do or won’t do, the true answers come in real life scenarios in which real people and real emotions and stakes are put in the equation of it all.
