Energy Aftermath

My friend and I were discussing our life activities and ofcourse work came into the picture. The main issues is not the long hours, it’s the stressful part.

We can’t deny that work plays a huge role in our lives, I on average spend 9 hours at my job on work days, not counting the overtime nor the weekend.

As the clock ticks away, I accumulate energy that I need to release, depends on the type of energy, the activities after work is defined.

If you have a stressful job, then the resultant energy is in a negative form.

  • You want to spend time alone. Not in the mood for social gathering and interacting with people. You’re already annoyed and packed with negative energy that clearly shows on your face and your body language.
  • Seeking extensive physical work to release this energy. Whether be it, hard full of sweating and running around workout, a nice swim in the pool alone or the inescapable stuffing your face with junk food ;)
  • It’s easier to hang out with familiar faces, to bitch to until calmness settles in. That being said, you understand why it’s tougher meeting new people. You’ll scare them away with your te7el6om :)
  • Postponing all the time. Personal dreams and interests always get pushed back, so slowly all the focus becomes work, stressing you even more.

If you have a normal steady reasonable stress level job, then the resultant energy is positive

  • You come home energized and you look forward to social activities and human interaction.
  • You have a healthy mental status to enjoy other activities, hobbies or courses not related to work.
  • You have time for personal not-work related dreams, opening a side business or completing a higher degree.

I find it hard to take up some after work activities if I’m not on vacation, I took a photography course and the course starts right after I get out. Sometimes I’m there on an empty stomach sitting on the desk listening to the instructor spaced out! It’s really an effort and not relaxing at all. On my course days, no scheduled down-time is approved, I kind of enjoyed this part, I couldn’t stay in because I had personal matters to attend to :P

When taking up a vacation, I usually need time to slip in the relaxation mood, so long vacations are the answer. Time to exit work mode, time to get adjusted, time to enjoy :)

My answer to how to deal with all of this, is to force myself, though I’m not succeeding most of the time. After Ramadan is over, I’m thinking of taking up a pottery class or a cooking class, that ought to be fun. Bigger plans and decisions, I’ll postpone to next year :P

better idea is to have a stress free job like most of the ppl in this land :P
finish around 1 be all home in your PJ’s eating lunch then your eyes fall on the time it’s just 1:30 at two you might consider tv, reading a book, going to the gym, or just sleeping, each would take you up to the hour of 4 when you are up relaxed and still you have the rest of the day ahead, you could be in a class or a shopping mall by 5 and even if you stay there for 3 full hours you still need to figure out what to do at night, is it a movie or a two hour dinner and that all can happen in a day *dreaming*

as you said it .. dreaming .. but then again, dreams do come true :)

    People read books? *shrug*

I quit my job. Gonna start my own thing.

Like I always say: If you ain’t having fun doing it, it ain’t worth doing.

    you don’t read books?

Sometimes you can’t have it all, work+fun, but that doesn’t stop one from searching!

So what are you upto these days?

I meant: “Does the general public in Kuwait read books?” — yet another vague sentence by MBH :/ sorry.

I personally don’t read books much. I prefer to read my content online. Makes it easy to search for meanings, further info, search inside the document, …etc. Though most of what I read is either technical or biology related.

Apart from tinkering with my company’s website, company’s wiki and movies, anime & TV shows?
Check my technical blog and you’d know :p

Today I received a new motherboard for an expansion to the storage cluster in the dewaniya :D

MBH, to check your technical blog, I need a certain mind set :P

And your link is broken (http://dn0.no-ip.org/)

  7. #7 by MBH on September 10, 2009 - 2:43 AM

The link isn’t broken, it’s just that you only checked the server when we were running maintenance tasks :p

We’ve got a new motherboard so we took down the server to inter-hook the two machines.

I’ll let you know when we’re done.

And sorry for having uninteresting, jargon-filled posts :p

Cooking and pottery? Eww… I don’t think this will solve your problem sister. You need physical workout, bloody shooting games (or shooting ppl you hate if you can afford to.. I recall you wanted me dead. Did you find the email yet?)

It’s about freeing your brain off thinking. Most people are afraid of change, like they’re afraid of water for first time. But when they’re pushed, they usually swim longer than they expect, and get happier :) .

Maybe you should get fired. Being whiny isn’t healthy at all :P

lol Bashar. Maybe she should get fired?

Bloggy until lately I felt almost socially isolated, when I had to study at the evenings and work in the mornings. Just now things are improving a little. I agree with a lot of what you said, especially wanting to be around familiar faces and not being so open to meeting new people, lol.

Forcing yourself to doing new activities won’t completely solve the problem. Look for something that’ll totally psych you.. motivate you.. I mean if pottery aint your “thing” then to hell with it! lol. If you have a thing for shooting though.. that’ll be awesome ; )

MBH, the server is still down, are you upgrading it or did you fry the poor thing :)

All your posts make my brain work :P and sometimes I need a brake :P

Bashar, get fired as in sacked out of my job or fired at standing in a shooting range :P laaaa, this space is for me to whine.

Nosayba, you should see be in squash, I scare the instructor sometimes, “yeah bad day at work” I say and then he gives me a lecture about life :P

It’s all about making time and effort but I don’t have those. I’m making a change don’t worry :D

    Long story short?
Too many bad disks, but I’m recovery the data…

I’ll send you the file list instead of you anticipating it infinitely :p

ohhhhhh is that a spelling mistake I see :P

Don’t worry I have patience, I’ve got dilemmas of my own ;)

    It’s not a spelling mistake. It’s a grammatical one.
