Compare the Meerkat Bloopers

In one of my lectures, the lecturer decided to take a break and show us some videos, they are so damn funny :)

It is a new way of advertisement for a site that deals with car insurances (comparethemarket.com), so they have this other site (comparethemeerkat.com) and base their advertisement on it.

Check them out, they are the ads bloopers :P

London: Day 1

Woke up 9 AM up and out of the hotel by 10 AM, got my bag and map, asked one of the hotel staff to point me to Hyde park and off I went.

It was beautiful, had my camera in hand, my training shoes on, though I slipped a few times because of the frost on the ground, but it was good, the weather was awesome but cold, yes I said it cold. For those who know me, they know I love cold, I never feel the cold, even in winter, I’m always in my summer clothes, but boy oh boy did I feel it in my bones to the very end of my toes this time :P I’ll leave that to another post :P

To the park, I passed by the exhbition street, beautiful painting, but then I realized some had a no camera sign.

Tried to find Diania’s memorial fountain but couldn’t quite get there :P The park is so huge, people were jogging, skating, walking their dogs, I was walking silently taking it all in snapping away with my camera.

Went to Winter Land.

Got myself a 2-day tour bus ticket and hopped onto one for a spin in the city :)

Walked to Oxford Street and went in and out a couple of stores.

Around 1 PM, I got so hungry got off and went for coffee and sandwich at Pret Manager, I LOVE this place. Then I stumbled upon Apple store on Regent street and looked up a 17-inch MAC pro for my brother.

My day ended with watching a movie, 3D Avatar :D The movie plot wasn’t that great but the graphics were amazing especially in 3D, I am truly looking forward to the new Shrek because the preview was in 3D. When booking I asked if it was OK to bring in food :P I went to Sainsburys and they had this self-checkout that I wanted to try out :D You scan your item’s barcode and place them in the bag, it senses weight, and then you see the total and choose your payment method, cash, card or vouchers, isn’t that wonderful. I wonder if our Jam3iyat can have that :) Boots here have self-check out too, but last time I couldn’t do it, because the machine won’t accept 50 notes.

Today was a good day … tomorrow, what am I planning to do :) hmmmmm, not sure, continue my tour bus and see where my feet take me :D and perhaps I’ll be lucky to find a ticket for the sold out shows :P Those were snippets of my day :)

What’s Up LONDON!

YUP, insha’Allah I’ll be heading to London for a few days if everything goes smoothly tomorrow, I’ve been quiet busy with all my assignment and course work! Anyway I’m supposed to finalize my report today to hand in tomorrow and off I go on the 2 PM train, which I haven’t booked yet! Nor the hotel for that matter! Anyway, if it is meant to be, it is meant to be.

So for all of you who have been to London, RECOMMENDATIONS, and I’m a tube kinda-girl, if you are generous enough to provide directions, I do have a map but I’m not that good in reading those, and I don’t think London people are nice enough for me to ask them for directions! So I guess, I’ll just wander around and see where my feet take me :D

Baked Potato

baked potato

Congratulations are in order for this not being pasta :P

I get ideas to get rid of food that is about to expire ;) My thick cream is due to expire pretty soon.

I baked my potato in the oven for about an hour. I sliced it open, put it in the silver plate and drizzled it with butter. I cut up a large portobello mushroom and rubbed some butter in them and spattered them around. I then poured the thick cream on top of it all, about 2 table spoons. Popped it in the oven again for about 5 minutes, once out covered it with yellow cheddar cheese and of course rocket leaves. Each bite was mushy and tender with cream and mushroom pieces covered with melted cheese … YUM :D

Comedy Show: Mock the Week

I believe British people have a strange sense of humour that most people don’t get, but they are funny in a strange way! I stumbbled across this one show, Mock the Week, and I can not get enough, when I want to take a break, I choose an episode and laugh away.

Comedy show combining elements of panel game, stand-up and improvisation, with two teams of comedians taking a satirical swipe at the news and world events.

Hosted by Dara O’Briain, with regulars Hugh Dennis and Frankie Boyle, this special edition contains previously unseen material as well as out-takes and some of the best moments from the recent series. Among the guests are Andy Parsons, Russell Howard, David Mitchell and Ed Byrne, as well as Fred MacAulay, Mark Watson and Gina Yashere.

Have a look and tell what do you think, to me it’s so damn funny, I laugh my head off :D

Oven Pasta

I know, too much pasta! But I’m so hungry and I was planning to go shopping on Sunday after the cinema and guess what Tesco closes at 4 PM! By the time, we got to Marks and Spencer, it was closed, it closes at 5 PM. I’m going to make a chicken dish someday once I go get some from the Pakistani shop which sells halal meat.

This one I made up as I went :P Taking everything out before it expires and putting it together, though the toast I used has expired days ago :P but if it’s in the fridge “ما يضره”.

As you see in the pictures I used one of the plates I got when I bought a ready meal and thought why waste it and throw it away when I can use it for future cooking since I don’t have that much cookware anyways, actually, I only have two, a small pan and a small pot :)

  • I semi-cooked the pasta, I wanted to use penne but all I have is spaghetti, and put it aside.
  • To make the sauce, I chopped portobello mushrooms and sautéed them in butter, added cream, two spoons of Philadelphia cheese and stirred on the heat.
  • On the silver oven plate, I placed some of the semi-cooked pasta, poured some of the sauce, sprinkled yellow cheddar cheese, another layer of pasta and poured the rest of the sauce and sprinked cheese.
  • I put one toast in the toaster on full power to make it brown and crispy, and then broke-up the toast with my hands and covered the pasta with toast crumbles and placed the dish in the oven for 10 minutes for the pasta to complete cooking.
  • I love rockets leaves, so I put some on top once the dish was out of the oven

This is a fast dish, though not fast enough sometimes :P It was TASTY, I like the yellow cheddar cheese in the pasta but after I was done, I got so thirsty, I kept drinking water, so this is kind of a warning :) I think by the time, I finish my time in UK, I’ll be allergic to pasta :P
