An intense portrayal of elite soldiers who have one of the most dangerous jobs in the world: disarming bombs in the heat of combat. When a new sergeant, James, takes over a highly trained bomb disposal team amidst violent conflict, he surprises his two subordinates, Sanborn and Eldridge, by recklessly plunging them into a deadly game of urban combat. James behaves as if he’s indifferent to death. As the men struggle to control their wild new leader, the city explodes into chaos, and James’ true character reveals itself in a way that will change each man forever.
This is one of the best movies I have ever seen. The story, the acting, the effects and the director. All bundled together for a great movie. How the story unfolds is unexpected and fast paced.
I wanted to know more about the character, Sergent James, how he ended up the way he is, but I guess you just have to give in that he is troubled and that the film is about the war and the different people fighting in it and trying to survive it.
I really enjoyed it and do recommend it.

I gave it 6 out of ten, just because it was well made, the story felt like a first chapter where they just outline the settings, when it finished I was thinking, that’s it?

ee that’s the beauty of it
me too, I wanted more background and an ending, but that’s how we are used to.
It’s just about that period and the people involved in that period of time.

It was a good movie, but I didn’t think it deserved an Oscar!
#4 by Bloggylife on May 16, 2010 - 10:11 PM
I haven’t seen all the movies competing at the Oscars, I should see them first and then decide
oo ba3deen not always the best film wins the Oscar

Oscars are like candies. And like Nobel prizes. They’re being handed out to any moron with a smirk and a fake promise.
The movie is crap and I have no idea why you liked it.
They start the movie with prayer calls, then in each bomb scene or when it’s near detonation, prayer calls are sounded again. ’3a9ib il Islam ya3ni irhab. The bastards are implanting the thought in people’s minds.
And they’re always showing the Arabs as stupid, ignorant people. Like the guy who went to say hi when the whole place was evacuated and when he was shoved away, he had a sad look on his face.
And the old man who busted through the humvees ’3a9ib yabi ymor…
What’re these two scenes portraying?
And it’s always the army saving innocent people. ya salam. Oh superman, help!
Wikileaks released a video of us army savages killing civilians including reporters and children and then they lied straight about it!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=reN0dOQHFPs
So this movie is probably a cover up…
What’s the point of the movie? James like detonating more than his family? O b3dain ya3ni who gives a banana?
I’m sorry I wasted these hours on this pile of crap.

LOL MBH sij el movie 7arik!
You know I got so used to how Arabs are portrayed, not only in movies, in news, on TV series, even in stand up comedies. erhab! It doesn’t help when someone blows themselves up in Russia wearing a hijab!
And YES I’ve noticed how Athan is always accompanied by a terrorist scene, in a TV series everytime the kidnapped guy is shown, Athan is in the background, madreee jam salat 3ind deerathom
or a Muslim woman, she is always abused.
A7is min kithir the bad points you mentioned I can’t remember why I liked the movie
I saw their point of view, the characters really did not care about what they were doing or anyone, just about serving their time. Some were in it for the money. Some were in it to make meaning and sense, it doesn’t matter which war they were in.
Nope I liked it
though as you said lazim Arab people are dumb, savages or perverts!
Mooo this is our fault, the media power is used to portray and exploit whatever however it likes and it doesn’t help when terrorists display only hate scenes and useless nonsense in the name of Islam in the media and that overpowers the good little stuff we can show off.
And they aren’t the only savages!!! We have many examples scattered in our part of the Arab world.
Implanting, in this age and time, it is really hard to enforce one point of view, people aren’t cut off the world, they are just too lazy to search so they just take! If they really wanted to know if Islam is a calling for irhab, they can just look into Islam and discover the opposite.
See WW I & II movies, always one innocent sympathetic side, it all depends who is making the movie.
I should mention the questions I get about Islam from non-Muslims/no-Arabs! I’m always surprised how I know more about their countries and religion than they do about ours!

The fact that you got used to it, proves that their tactics have worked.
The world is so open? Mass media is controlled and wherever you look it’s biased.
BBC *may* be one of few that gives a semi-biased view.
Who reads/watches news? I surely don’t! I’m sick of the repetitive crap over & over, day after day, year after year.
Who watches movies? Everyone! So it’s much easier to push such crap ideas through movies. And who cares about plots anymore? People have become so dull and stupid that they can’t comprehend plots not even lyrics.
Have you heard the songs in the top 40 charts? How many have meaningful lyrics? And by meaningful, I mean things that weave a useful meaning. After you subdue to the fact that there are none, look for lyrics that have subtle meaningful meanings. Again, you won’t find any.
So many people love Hotel California. How many know what it’s actually about?
My point is, don’t get used to it. Graphics is graphics. A movie without a plot is worthless. It’s like a book with random pictures that convey no meaning nor idea.

I knew you were going to say the first sentence.
Moo hathee ehya, laaa min news wala movies. Even documentaries …
I watch and read even if I get offended and angry … I don’t get as angry or offended because some of the things they are using is what they are seeing!
People should search and use their brains and not believe the first thing that is fed to them!
Ya3nee I get surprised by someone living in a Muslim country who converted to Islam and I know that it is not because they observed the way Muslims live and treat each other, yaaaa ena they know a handful of good Muslims or they searched themselves and converted.
Tara fact manipulation min ziman, ages and ages ago, look into history oo religion so many stories, now it is on wider scale because of ease of spread.
And it is a trend, meaningless, n generation see n+1 generation is meaningless, and n-1 generation see n generation meaningless. Kil mala meaningless increase
Tara watching movies is FUN, it doesn’t always have to be about making a point, sometimes it is just colourful
But I agree, it does shape up the weak minds.
Now Hotel California is running in my head. So what it’s actually about ??? I’ve always thought its about getting lured into something you think it is grand but it is deceiving. Something comes to mind, but I can’t remember the name, Aha Hansel and Gretel.

Hotel California is about being a captive to drugs. You may sober out once in a while, but you can’t leave the drug.
Also check out System of a Down’s Hypnotize: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LoheCz4t2xc
And btw, when speaking of songs I mean English and Arabic alike. In fact, Arabic ones are worse; the video clips are strip shows!
The vocals suck, the lyrics suck, the video clip is meaningless with a bunch of whores jiggling about and the music is either stolen or repetitive.
Every time I hear people saying that they like some new lame song (Nancy et al, or Rihana et al) I automatically get a disgusted look on my face…

Also, did you notice how in the movie they kept repeating that they’re in a war?
They do that in every movie… first it was Vietnam, then it was Afghanistan then Iraq. It’s as if they’re fighting for something but they never say what it is! hah!
#11 by Bloggylife on May 21, 2010 - 1:03 AM
LOL totally agree.
oo you may think this is mean, but I get annoyed when soldiers get traumatised, ya3nee it is war what did you expect! 3ayal shino yesawooon the people who are dragged into all of this&living it without a choice.

Nice lyrics oo concept behind albums, but music wise too loud! First time I hear about this band.
