Time Travel

Discussing a topic isn’t always about its feasibility. Sometimes it’s about what will you do if it were possible.

Time travel is always an interesting topic, three factors always in the equation of moving, time, distance and speed. Always positive indicating to the next point in the near present or future time.

Time travel, is it about time in the past, or long distances to chase past snapshots in space to relive them or maybe just observe them, this requires incredible high speeds, will there be another variable concerned with space.

The most important question is, where would you travel?

The first thing that popped in my mind is the dinosaur age. I don’t why, but that era is amazing, I just want to witness the creatures, the earth back then, no humans, need to verify that, maybe even stick around to witness the beginning of the human race, I’d just be an observer, I will not alter history as we know it now, I may even fast forward all of earth years see how it looks, how it progressed, coming from the future I’d have an advantage, I’d take all my equipment for protection, don’t want to be at a disadvantage with the dinosaurs! All my gadgets will be solar powered :P I’d have a “Generating power for dummies” book ;) I need to stop myself here or I’d just drift planning the whole thing for days :)

I would travel back in time to make some decisions at work a little earlier then I did before, would have helped with development and circumvent some challenges that we are facing now!

Then I would travel back in time to meet Bruce Lee and become his apprentice!

Now the question is! Would I be affected by aging? hmmmmm! So many factors!

Now I want an Iron Man suit to go with the time traveling! My concepts just go into the ridiculous! lol

LOOOOOOL Bruce Lee cracked me up!!!

wAllah good question about ageing, hmmmm, I believe so … sa7 sooo many factors and interesting to discuss :)

No concept is ridiculous, Iron Man flying with dinosaurs :P

I discussed this with a cousin once. Basically it’s theoretically possible to *see* the past but not interact with it.

I don’t believe that it’s possible to travel back in time just as it is impossible to travel faster than the speed of light.

As for seeing the past: The images we see are reflections of light, so if we assume that light reflected from the surface of earth is sufficient to form an image, we could install collecting dishes in outer space to harvest those reflections and send them back to us to see.

There is a limit to how far we can go back due to wavelength attenuation, obstructions and blackholes. Also, to see 500 years back, we’d have to put the collecting dishes very far into space and the speed the collected info is sent must be extremely fast, otherwise another 500 years might pass before we see the data!

This suggests that the data collected is being transmitted at speeds faster than the speed of light. I know objects can’t travel than the speed of light, but I don’t know about signal transmission.

In all cases, you’ll age. Just like those astronauts who travel to space; they spend years out there and it seems to them like a few months due to the excessive speed and large distance covered.

I have to agree with hard to interact with the past, unless there is a parallel universe which is an exact copy but running at lower speeds :P

Isn’t the same concept as stars, we can see the light they emitted long after they are gone.

Objects can be transmitted at fast speeds if distance is eliminated from the equation, I read about an experiment somewhere need to search for it and verify my vague recollection.
