Ma63mi

My big bro has been working on this site for ages! Finally finished most of it and still is tweaking here and there.

Basically the website, Ma63mi, is for reviewing restaurants, coffee-shops and home businesses. It also has a social aspect integrated.

The site is still new and data is still being entered. Some members are contributing to data entry, me being one of them ;)

Since the handful of my blog readers are in IT, I decided to blog it instead of emailing it, your input is valued. The site is built using Joomla CMS and several Joomla extensions.

Sign up and be a regular member commenting and contributing or request administrative privileges to enter new inputs.

He’s still working on speeding up the site, Arabic support and minor stuff here and there.

You can contact him at: info (at sign) ma63mi (dot) com

My Siblings

Away from my sister and brothers, but they are always on my mind! When I organized my room and now it is more spacious, I thought, “If only my sister would see me now”.

I’m having a beginning of a cold right now and I remember my big brother, when he has the flu, I ask him to stay away, “Your germs are too strong for my body stay away from me”, he’ll have the flu for 3 days and I for 3 weeks! As any loving brother, he’ll literally rush into my room to just sneeze! He’ll throw his used tissue in my room or just come in to get tissue! I’d scream at him, “ya3nee, you don’t have tissue in your room” and he’ll innocently reply: “I want yours, it’s softer”. The only person so far, that I catch the flu from in a blink of an eye.
I dreamt of my youngest brother today, he’s 16 now but I dreamed of him as a kid, I looked at him and thought, I left you a big boy! But I just picked him up like I used to do when he was a baby and carried him around, he had the cutest face smiling at me :) -3ad oohwa daloo3 moo naqis-
I made a mistake and asked my youngest brothers what they want me to buy them, and told them not to ask for expensive stuff, the emails I got from them, asking for this and that -فتحت على نفسي باب- :P But sometimes I can’t help but spoil them and then I have the nerve to lecture them “You are spoiled” :P I try to find a balance.
I’d call my middle brother and say “I know you can’t live without me and ‘shooftee kefaya’ but do you need anything”
He’d just say, “aqoool, cheena temde7een nafsich wayid” :P
I can’t wait to see them again, though probably, they’ll just want to know what I got for them and then everyone will head out on their way, except habiiibteee my lil sister :* , I just hope they didn’t take over my room :P
I even know what one of my brothers will say about the below pic, “wAllah theeqa” :P

New School Year!

Forming Alliances!

This is how my youngest brother talked about his new school year first weeks.

What they do is form a group of the best in each subject, so as my brother put it:

I’m covering English, now we need someone for Physics and Chemistry.

I tried my best not to laugh, and gave a serious speech about you have to study hard and try to understand the subjects. Cheating isn’t the way.

Apparently his group is so popular that people want in, but if you don’t have anything to offer, aka cover a subject, then you have to pay each member of the group -I think he was joking, I hope-

I was to horrified to ask if this was true! Kids today are scary!!! Apparently teachers, look the other way, because they are so hopeless, if they don’t copy out of each others pages, most of them will fail!

I think my brothers are getting these ideas from too much World of Warcraft (WOW), they’re too busy with raids, building strategies and forming alliances!

Dubai Roads

mban2527l

Driving is one thing, driving in Dubai is another and finally driving in Dubai with your mom next to you is a total other matter :P

The roads in Dubai are a bit complicated compared to the infrastructure we have here in Kuwait. If you miss a turn on a high way, khalas you lost your chance, it’s very hard to do a U-turn as we have here with our highway exits.

Even with a GPS stuck to the window shield, we got lost!! The GPS looses it sometimes and places us in weird locations :P

You’d see a sign giving a direction to a road, if you reach that road its name is different and then on the GPS it has a third name. Not to forgot the commercial maps we took from the hotel concierge, but believe it or not, we found Dubai Outlet Mall with that map with my sis directions :) – family scores -

The GPS helped a lot, if it weren’t for it, I’d never drive there. Even their internal roads are being contructed, we found ourselves ending up in closed dark alleys!

If we can’t find our destination on the GPS we search for something near and go there and just manage from there.

When we got lost going to Outlet Mall, we found the Chinese Dragon Market so we went in :P We also, came across Dubai Fabrics Market, Vegetable and Fruit Market, you see where I’m going with this :D

We rented a Toyota – Corolla for 90 Dirhams per day, I waived the extra insurance, and get this if you are 25 and below they won’t insure you :P But since I’m 26 they allowed me to take their car. There is also an extra charge of 5 Dirhams everytime you pass their “Salik” bridges.

Driving in Dubai is less aggressive than here, people will actually let you pass, stop and make way and most importantly stand in line. Of course we saw the occasional road rage and madness but not compared to Kuwait drivers.

If I get another chance to drive there again, it’ll be with a fresh formatted brain, because I have no recollection of the roads and sites, that’s how messed up my mental road map of Dubai is, well I do remember Maktoum Bridge!

If you decide to go for a visit and want to drive, pack an updated GPS and prepare for getting lost ;)

Mini Vacation

Took a small break with the family and headed to Dubai. I’m so glad we did this trip. I got confused about Ramadan and thought it might be Saturday/Sunday so I scheduled our return Friday, good thing that Ramadan is tomorrow :)

It wasn’t crowded and the weather was bearable, it’s always a good deal to just leave everything behind and take some time off.

I’ll be posting about that trip and driving on crazy under construction roads. We got lost a lot ;P but it was FUN and frustrating at the same time because my two brothers don’t know when it’s time to just shut up.

We managed to pass “Salik” bridges 18 times, if you use them, you need to pay a fee! I thought I should charge them for having such messy roads and no clear signs!!!

So Ramadan is here and everytime, I feel the same, that I’m not ready! And I feel the same way when it’s about to end, that I’m not ready for it to finish. I’m not sure what the feeling is about and how to get the “ready” vibe on ;P

One thing I hate about Ramadan is how people relate to food, you would think people will consume less but it’s the opposite. My mom always thinks that the most appropriate time to ask for “Laban” is to ask me as I’m heading back from work or before “futoor” and I have to drive like crazy! The co-ops always seem to be full and I feel like I’m the only one standing there with my “Laban” for “futoor” and mini cornflakes for “so7oor”.

We are one of the families who have many options on the first day only “أمي تكون شادة حيلها” then it’s soup – prayer – main dish scenario.

Driving is another thing, remember “Better late than never”. If you don’t want to live, it’s your own life and there are many ways to take it, just don’t drag another innocent one with you!!!

ohhhhh and the BIG thing is me going through caffeine withdrawal x( ouch … I think it’ll take me a week to be fully must-have-coffee-in-the-morning FREE

Mubarak 3alakom el-shahar :D

Wii-ing with Family

Every Saturday we have our gathering, my sister and her husband, my brother and his wife come to lunch at our parent’s. After lunch we decided to play some Wii, the latest gaming console my big brother got.

When I need to satisfy my game hunger, Wii doesn’t do it for me, I’ve got get my hands on some serious games, like Tomb Raider :P

Wii games are FUN, each family member has a character created, and we took turns playing Tennis, bowling, golf, etc. It was filled with challenge, movements and screams. Now we are going up a notch and getting the dance game with the dancing mats :P My brother also, suggested to get two extra hand remotes, so four players can play at the same time when applicable, but we need more room, since we’re going to bump into each other if we played in the dewaniya. If you check Wii accessories, they have very interesting stuff according to your games requirements, like a microphone for a singing game which you can upload to a site later on :P Bas this is too much for family activity, don’t think anyone will be willing to broadcast personal singing tunes.

My brother is supposed to go to Rihab to get all that we agreed on, that was last Sunday. I hate going to Rihab, last time I went I was shocked by the changes that happened, I remember we used to go there on regular basis as kids to get the Sega/Nintendo  games. “Rehab” now is restructured, you’ll find shops in every corner and young kids smoking looking like they are 40 year olds stuck in teenager bodies! I’ll remind him again tomorrow, if he doesn’t go, I’ll make the ultimate sacrifice and go, but I’ll take my younger brothers with me, since I think I’m supposed to take them out on Thursday for movies and dinner. Can’t wait to shake it :D

Big Sister Advice

If you have two brothers who are a little over a year apart then you are familiar with all the bickering, fights, he said this he said that, that go on most of the time.

I sometimes get mad and demand they stop at once. But then I realized it’s sometimes easier to just have them unite against a single target, myself for example :P They would go on and on teasing about everything, the way I eat if we were in a restaurant, they way I drive if we were in a car, my clothes selection if I took them shopping, how I speak, endless issues.

Or I’d guide them to talk about a topic in which both can participate and earn laughs from all. The latest prank they pulled off, for example :)

Even for a while, they seem to forget and stop teasing each other and focus on stuff you can tolerate.

These young kids they are very sneaky! I’m mad and want to shout, but then I see their faces and fight hard not to laugh because the whole “I’m so pissed off” won’t work at all!!!

It’s easier to handle them against you, rather then handle both against each other, not to mention the whole “who’s side are you on”, “you love him more”, etc.

Hilarious Thoughts

There are moments in life when you regret not having a running video camera to capture the moment

Especially when your little less than a month old niece just sky rocketed her poopy all over her gramma looooooool

PAUSE …

She didn’t pee, vomit or make weird sounds … she went 3ala 6ool for the big one ;P

Mom was changing her diaper and as I was about to go get the cream for her, my cute niece make a sound and woooosh her poopy is all over mom, her clothes and the sofa HAHAHAHAHA … mom just had her shower looooooooool

How can that much come out of a little tiny creature ;P

6ab3an, I couldn’t stop myself and laughed, laughing I went over to my sis and told her, laughing I went to the kitchen and got soap and sponge to clean the evidence … laughing … laughing … images going through my head …

with one thought one mind … DAMN, if only I caught that on tape ;D
