Lunch Invitation
Posted by Bloggylife in UK, food, friends on June 28, 2010
This is how it goes when I invite my neighbour over to lunch or dinner.
“اليوم الغدا عندي”
“لااااا مابي أتعبج … مالا داعي”
“عادي اشفيج … أنا بسوي بسوي و بحسب احسابج معاي”
“متاكده أخاف وايد عليج”
and it goes like this everytime.
Here’s how when she invites me over.
“اليوم الغدا عندي”
“OK”
Unless I ate or am tired, I accept invitations
Madree, maybe the social thing is to say NO at first.
Today I bought meat. Here’s moi multitasking
Bamya
Posted by Bloggylife in food on May 12, 2010
It’s started off with planning to do Bamya, then I saw the potatoes and the courgette so I added those too
Copped Onion and Potatoes, this might seem a lot, but I just froze off any excess.
I bought garlic paste, added it to the melted butter and then dropped off the onions.
Added potatoes.
Added the bamya.
Tomatoes are delicious, look how ripe it is and fresh, YUM
Added the koosa and then the tomatoes. Wonderful colours
Squeezed in the tomato paste and swirled it all around
Then added water. Let it sit for a while until the vegi’s become tender. Added whatever spices I can find
Still I’m missing what I had back home, much more variety.
The rule is one dish a day
So I popped in toast instead of rice
I had loads of leftovers, so maybe I can make rice tomorrow, etha leee khilq
Maraq Deyay
Posted by Bloggylife in food on May 10, 2010
YUP. Maraq deyay and rice for lunch today
If you focus they are the tiny pieces in the red sauce
I know what mom will say when she takes a look at this: “من متى تاكلين كوسا بالمرق”
I put everything in together, I wanted to put “bamya” but that is another meal by itself! I didn’t have enough ingredients to make a decent salad because all will go bad, so chopped tomato it is
The rice is ready made, I don’t have enough pots and pans, one thing to cook at a time. My neighbour came over and ate with me and then we had ice-cream perfect desert
Toast Pizza

I can not buy much of anything at once, since they expire, last night I had pasta with a ready made sauce, I just added the vegetables I wanted. The sauce has to be used within 3 days from opening the jar. So I had to improvise ways to use it up.
I had toast and vegetables. And just popped them in the oven for 15 minutes and Lunch is served!
I’ve reached a point where I only eat because I am hungry, I really don’t enjoy the food much. Maybe because my menu has been limited to mostly cornflakes and toast for quite a while now. I need to head to the Pakistani Butcher shop for chicken, meat-up my menu a bit.
On another note, I LOVE globalisation, you know why? Because I can find “Hummous”
One of my favourite food in the WWW. I’m not sure why I classified “Hummous” as fattening food, but here you’d find it under Healthy Food
YAY, I can eat as much as I like and don’t feel guilty about it, I can have Hummous and Toast and call it Lunch, or just make a Hummous wrap with salad YUM. The best one I’ve tasted is from Marks and Spencer, then Sainsbury’s and Tesco. There are loads of kinds, Regular Hummous, Hummous with Tomato, Hummous with Garlic, but I haven’t yet got tired of the good old plain original Humous
I always grab that one.
What’s for Lunch?

Actually I don’t order takeout, I just have cornflakes, fruits, yoghurt … minimal kitchenware interaction
Fairy Power Spray
Posted by Bloggylife in Products, food on April 7, 2010
My new favourite product, my hero, my fairy power spray
You can forget scrubbing and leaving dishes in hot water or any other solution or approach you take to clean grease out of dishes, ovens, pans and trays.
I went and got those hard metal scrubs and soaked my oven tray in boiling water and still some of the grease was there! This spray got it out, well not from the first time around but bit by bit until my tray is sparkling clean, I sprayed it four times just to get everything out, even the edges cleaned off.
And the cool thing is that you can spray, aim, spray, aim, spray
Leave it for about 15 – 30 minutes depending on what you are cleaning but not longer as I did
and just use a rough surfaced sponge soaked in warm water and the grease will come of just like that, no need for tedious scrubbing. If there is still another layer of grease spray again and leave it and then clean.
I really loved this, I spray it in the oven, in the microwave and the grill.
It was worth every penny, it cost me 3 pounds. Need to stock in more of it, though I doubt I’ll be using the oven or tray anytime soon, since they are so clean and I spent quality time cleaning everything up
