Movie: Puss in Boots
Posted by Bloggylife in entertainment on November 1, 2011
I absolutely love Puss in Boots from Shrek movies and always thought he should have his own movie. Well here it comes, I’m definitely going when it comes out. Salma Hayek is in it too, not sure about that!
From the trailer, it looks promising and since it is an animation, I don’t mind going to the cinemas here to watch it.
Fictional Thoughts

There’s no such thing as a “stupid” question – unknown*
*source could not be identified because s/he were brutally mutilated by a group of zombies educators who thought otherwise! They apparently had living examples which proved her/his statement false!

Independent Thoughts

Being independent … is addictive … is empowering … is liberating …
You are in charge of yourself.
Whatever you want or need, whenever, it is yourself that you turn to.
Trusting another human being with your welfare is a daring thing to do. Especially nowadays as people are getting more selfish and greedy! Moreover what if that person stops existing, who are you going to turn to?
It may seem like the easy way, to lay back and let others take care of things, to some it may even seem like the smart choice!
Yourself … it’s your responsibility!
Looking at it from the other side …
YOU taking care of another soul …
It is a responsibility. If you are not careful, you slowly start to believe that they owe you something, the resentment starts seeping in when you feel unappreciated, you know you have leverage, it’s tempting to use, you have the right to use it, you do, they must pay …
Human relationships are complicated! I’m not saying don’t trust others, I’m just saying be smart about it. Don’t blame others if they don’t bail you out and turn their backs on you, because the first person to do that was yourself!
Greedy Retailers

I bought this blouse from Oasis – Marina – Kuwait for 22 KD.
Usually I don’t buy from Oasis but this time I found many cute stuff, but I just chose the blouse and decided to check the rest online. The price difference is unbelievable!
The item is sold for £15 and even without sale, it was sold for £20!
If you live in the countries they deliver to, you can choose the free of charge delivery option! Not only that, you can buy the items online and pick them from your chosen store!
The item cost me 22KD as a standalone. Even if I order that single item for full price, £20, pay the Kuwaiti customs charge and aramex delivery, I’d still be saving 1/3 of what it’s being sold for here!
Care to explain the price difference?
BTW, Alshaye does not refund your money anymore, they’ll give you a voucher that you can use in any of their stores! Isn’t this a clear violation of customer’s rights! What’s left of it anyway! Why they’re able to do this, is because they control most of the retail market, no competition, and our customer’s protection office is just a facade!
Simple Thoughts
Posted by Bloggylife in thoughts on September 13, 2011
When there’s a problem everyone stands still, not uttering a single word.
Then comes a solution to this problem, maybe a simple one, even incomplete … nevertheless, a solution …
Not a moment too soon …
Whispers turn into arguments into shouts … as if we’re in “who’s the loudest” contest!
My my … such powerful pipes …
Critiquing the solution, exaggerating the problem, putting it on the impossible stool …
A dumb comfortable mentality …
Cowering away when needed … Huffing and puffing needlessly when NOT!
So …
Excuse the eyes’ rolling … excuse the gaging … please do excuse the sane people … but all they’re thinking of is …
“Unless you have a better solution, shut the &*%$ up”
HP Laptop Powering-up Problem
Posted by Bloggylife in troubleshooting on August 6, 2011
I’ve many problems with my gadgets, my laptops, yeah plural!, my Kindle and I sense my phone is right behind them!
My latest problem started when I plugged my laptop and it refused to power up! Blank Black screen no noise no sign of life!! I had papers to grade & grades to submit! So you understand my horror!
The night before I had hibernated my laptop.
I performed the “discharge the laptop” because it solved my problem once.
Detach the battery, hold down the power button for few seconds to discharge any residue power, plug in your laptop & start it.
That didn’t solve my problem.
I made sure that the power charger is working, I can see the lights on when I plug it in my laptop and that the battery is charging, luckily my brother has the same charging outlet so I tried it on his & it was working fine.
I had an “AHA” moment as I was about to go to sleep
Maybe the cause is one of the internal devices. I had a problem with my DVD device long time ago. Though my laptop was working fine with the non-functioning drive inside for some time but you never know.
I opened the laptop up, removed the DVD drive, cleaned everything, re-seated all connections including the power button.
I know I did two major things, removed a non-working device and re-connected so I don’t exactly know which solved the problem. I can test & verify but “malee khilq”!
Last time I opened the laptop I got lost in what goes where so this time I drew a simple layout to keep track of all the screws.
Finally the laptop powered up. JOY OH JOY
But wait, nothing happened. Lights on, fan working but Blank Black screen. I noticed the Caps Lock Button lights blinking. Looked up the error codes, three blinks means I have a problem with the memory. (Blank Screen LED Error Codes).
It must be my rough handling of the laptop that the memory modules slid out a bit, re-seated both modules back firmly & powered up the laptop.
It took me a few days to solve this problem. I don’t think I was ever this happy to see Windows logo appear on the screen
Summary:
- Remove battery, discharge laptop, plug in & power up.
- Remove non-major internal devices.
- Clean laptop.
- Make sure all components are properly seated in place & cables firmly connected.
- Always BACKUP & try not to get frustrated!
PS: I’m giving this laptop to my lil’ brother next week as a “gift”
