What the Buzz
Posted by Bloggylife in thoughts on February 12, 2010
So if I have something should I Buzz it ?
Or Tweet and Flickr it and it will be Buzz-ed!
Should I wave it?
Or simply email it …
Maybe blog it!
Perhaps just share it and comment …
facebook ???
Pick up the phone or should I use skype, hmmm …
Maybe I’ll just keep it to myself … brain hurts … too much distractions!
PS: How can I add my blog to my Google Buzz

Google Solution Wanted
Posted by Bloggylife in technology on January 10, 2010
Sometimes I search for solution based on needs I am having. I am Googlized
aren’t we all. I have my gmails, my google search results bookmarked, my google documents, google waves, even tweets. Sometimes I want to centralize them all together, is there a product out there that does that for me. Why am I having something called, Google Projects in mind, is it out there or am I imagining it.
I want to be able to create a project within a portal for example, and link everything I have control over in one location. I’d set a project page and name it, link all related emails, documents, tweets, bookmarked search results, youtube videos, etc. Has anyone got the solution or an idea? I just don’t want to alt+tab or ctrl+tab no. all the time.
btw, is twitter still a standalone, has anyone bought it, Google, Microsoft, since everything is bought by either Google or Microsoft nowadays, I remember the last one was Google with youtube and Yahoo with who again ??

Firefox browser has no problem, just Chrome. Preview then Publish clicked from the same window can be done with Firefox but not Chrome!
Google Translate
Posted by Bloggylife in technology on November 27, 2009
I did write about this before, but I love Google and what they have to offer.
How their services take over our daily vocabulary.
Does a day go by without one saying, “Did you google it?”
Now I’m using a new one, “I’ll wave it to you”
when I’m using googlewave

I notice now, for Google Translate, you can write an Arabic word using English letter and press the spacebar and it’ll automatically convert to Arabic, without the hassle of (alt+shift) between Arabic-English keyboard settings
If you translate to English, a small speaker icon appears and you can hear the word out and it’s only for the English words so far. I tried French, but the feature is not included.
When typing in the box, the translate is done live on the wire! Isn’t that cool, so you can see the formed words interpreted at each keystroke, it’s kind of fun
The one thing I’m missing is having a spelling checker, I’m not sure why my browser doesn’t do that! I do remember that it’s included within my Chrome or was that Firefox, will check it out laters.
Go Google, keep ‘em good things coming
Gmail and Blog
Posted by Bloggylife in technology, troubleshooting on February 6, 2009
After going through Bashar’s post about Gmail, I went through my gmail features and found that I can configure my domain email account (@bloggylife.com) ;P (well upto 5 accounts), kind of centralizing everything into one place ;D
Settings -> Accounts -> Add a mail account you own
It is straight forward, but if you’re not sure, usually you can get the mail setting configuration from your domain help page. The thing I liked, there is an option to automatically label your emails that are retrieved from your domain account to single them out.
In hotmail, which I use for personal and business, because these accounts go way back and all my contacts know them. Though I don’t frequently use messenger, but it’s a tool to stay in touch. I have rules set to sort out my incoming mails into folders based on sender, domain, etc. I haven’t used labels/folders in gmail yet, because there isn’t much to go through. My gmail is just used to stay in touch with the blogsphere .. for now ;D
One question is roaming through my mind and not quite sure of it, is there a possibility that this way, my blog emails are also filtered through gmail spam filters ;D The obvious answer should be no, the emails are just retrieved and whatever filtering that is supposed to happen, should be done at the original account servers. I’ll have to search for a definite answer.

I use Google Translate quite a bit, I just noticed they added a new feature (swap) which is great. I always confuse if I’m translating from English to Arabic or the other way around ;P
Also, now I can switch quickly between the two languages, it’s just wonderful.

My iGoogle
Posted by Bloggylife in personal, technology on April 25, 2008

My homepage is iGoogle which is a nice service provided by google kinda like a portal in which you can customize what you have when you login to your google account.
There are alot of online gadgets that you can add to further customize your google portal. Some are developed by google themselves and others by other developers. I am not sure how you can add your own developed gadgets and if there is some kind of policy or guidelines to follow but I’ll check that later since I am not a developer.
I can see my gmail, but it doesn’t display new messages instantly because it doesn’t refresh, I also added a ToDo gadget to save papers but I can only have seven items!!, puzzles and riddles which I try not to look at while at work because I’ll start solving them and they aren’t that easy, jokes for laughs, and many other cool gadgets out there.
Select your own theme from a list or simply design your own.
Everyday I discover a new feature and try to play around and further customize my iGoogle. Give it a try.
Update: iGoogle does refresh automatically to load updates to your online gadgets
